Muturi: Murkomen Shows Childishness, Shouldn't Lead Interior Docket - Nairobi Wire
Former Attorney General Justin Muturi criticized President William Ruto for appointing Kipchumba Murkomen as Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, saying the docket demands a more experienced and practical head.
During a live interview on K24 TV on Thursday, July 17, 2025, Muturi said the Interior Ministry should be left in the hands of a mature and composed person, qualities he believes Murkomen lacks.
“They say if you want to test a man, give him power,” Muturi remarked. “I think power has gone to his head. He’s still a fairly young man who is excited about the exercise of power, and there is also an element of childishness in him.”
Muturi didn’t mince words, questining Ruto’s competence in choosing Murkomen for the powerful position.
“Ruto made a mistake in giving such an excitable youth the responsibility to head a docket such serious as the interior,” he said. “Murkomen is easily excitable as a youth, and you can see it in his behavior.”
“When you give him a serious docket like Interior, even you, as the appointing authority, we must begin questioning your capacity at leadership. This is a serious docket that needs a mature person because the job requires a lot of reflection in the statement you make.”
