Mukul Dev Passes Away At 54, Manoj Bajpayee Pens Heartfelt Note For His 'Brother In Spirit' - Entertainment

Actor Mukul Dev breathed his last on Saturday morning. Having worked extensively in the Hindi entertainment industry, he passed away at the age of 54 after falling ill. He was in Delhi at the time of his passing. The news of his untimely demise left his fans and acquaintances from the industry deeply saddened. It is to be noted that the cause of his death has not yet been announced by his family. Bollywood actors Manoj Bajpayee and Ajay Devgn were quick to take to their official social media handles to pay their condolences and respects.

Taking to his X (formerly known as Twitter) handle, Bajpayee, who worked with Dev in Dastak (1996), penned an emotional note. Mourning the loss of his close friend, the Family Man actor remembered him. Sharing a photo of the late actor, he wrote, “It’s impossible to put into words what I’m feeling. Mukul was a brother in spirit, an artist whose warmth and passion were unmatched. Gone too soon, too young. Praying for strength and healing for his family and everyone grieving this loss. Miss you meri jaan…until we meet again, Om Shanti.”

Taking to his Instagram stories, Devgn too remembered the late actor and expressed how he is still trying to process Mukul’s death. He wrote, “Still trying to process it… Mukul It’s all too soon and sudden. You had a way of making everything lighter, even on the heaviest days. On Shanti.”

Having worked with the late actor in Son of Sardar, Vindu Dara Singh, during an interview with India Today, recalled how the actor had isolated himself after his parents’ death. He went on to add, “He would not even step out of the house or meet anyone. His health deteriorated in the last few days and he was in the hospital. My condolences to his brother and everyone who knew and loved him. He was an amazing person, and we will all miss him.”

Media reports suggest that he hadn’t been doing well for the past few days and was admitted to the ICU. Despite all the efforts that were made, he couldn’t recover. Issuing a statement on his brother’s death, Rahul Dev shared that the cremation will take place in Delhi. He said in a statement, “Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully at New Delhi last night. He’s survived by his daughter Sia Dev. Missed by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev and nephew Sidhant Dev. Please join us for cremation at 5 PM.”

Having started his acting career in television with the serial Mumkin (1996), Mukul Dev held a certificate in aeronautics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Aviation in Raebareli. His extensive work is not limited to just Hindi films and television serials as he has also worked in Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu films.
