Mudavadi mourns ex-Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has sent condolences to the government and people of Nigeria following the death of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.

In his statement, Mudavadi expressed deep sympathy to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the family of the late leader, and the entire Nigerian nation.

“I extend my condolences to H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well as to the family, friends, and the entire Nigerian nation, on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari,” Mudavadi stated.

He praised Buhari’s long and eventful public life, describing him as a leader who transitioned from a disciplined military officer to a trusted democratically elected president.

 Mudavadi said Buhari had earned the confidence of Nigerians through his dedication to national service and leadership over two consecutive terms in office.

“President Buhari will be remembered for his remarkable journey from a disciplined military leader to a democratically elected president who earned the trust of Nigerians for two consecutive terms,” Mudavadi said.

 “His steadfast commitment to public service, integrity, and the unity of Nigeria leaves a legacy that will inspire generations to come.”

Muhammadu Buhari was born on December 17, 1942, in Daura, Katsina State, Nigeria. Buhari rose to prominence through his military career and served as the president of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023.

While serving as president, he implemented various policies and initiatives aimed at addressing these issues, including economic recovery plans and anti-corruption efforts.

Buhari governed Nigeria with a strong hand as a military ruler in the 1980s.

His passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from leaders across Africa and beyond, in recognition of his significant contributions to both Nigeria and the continent.

Buhari died at the age of 82 at about 4:30 p.m. in London, United Kingdom, following a prolonged illness.
