Movie Re-Releases and Premieres

The trend of re-releasing films, which has recently taken Bollywood by storm, is now extending its reach into Marathi cinema. Following a wave of re-releases in the Hindi film industry, with multiple films hitting theaters again each Friday, Nagraj Popatrao Manjule’s acclaimed 2016 film, Sairat, is set to re-release in Maharashtra on March 21. This movie, which marked the debut of Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, became a significant hit and is now giving audiences another chance to experience its magic on the big screen.

Director Nagraj Manjule expressed his gratitude and excitement about the re-release, stating, "When we made this film, we had no idea that it would receive so much love from the audience. We had honestly carried out our task. Sairat found a place in the audience’s hearts not only in Maharashtra but all over India, and now we have got a chance to re-release this film. What can be more joyous than this? For this, I thank Zee Studios from the bottom of my heart. Because of the re-release, we will get to experience the same excitement and the love from the audience.”

Rinku Rajguru, who played the character Archi, shared her sentiments, saying, “Sairat is an important part of my life. My character Archi received tremendous love from the audience. This film not only gave me an identity but also a part in the audience’s hearts. I am happy and proud that Sairat is re-releasing. I will always be thankful to Nagraj Manjule for trusting me and giving me a chance to work in this film.”

Akash Thosar, known for his role as Parshya, added, “Sairat is my career’s first film and my most important project till date. My character Parshya gave me an identity in the audience’s hearts. The success we received for Sairat is still fresh in our minds. I am happy that the film is re-releasing. I am sure that the audience will once again accept the film in the same way.”

The musical duo Ajay-Atul also commented on the re-release, highlighting the film's lasting impact through its music: “Sairat was celebrated all over. The songs of the film still rule over the audience’s hearts. Because of the subject of the film, we received such positivity while composing the songs, and because of that the songs are still superhit. The film is now re-releasing with the same positivity. We are sure that it will receive the same love and admiration like it received back then.”

Sairat's initial release in 2016 made history as a major Marathi blockbuster, catapulting Rinku and Akash to stardom. Its music became incredibly popular, and the film was officially remade in several languages, including Hindi, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali, and Odia. While Kedar Shinde and Jio Studios’ Baipan Bhari Deva was initially slated for a re-release on March 7, it did not occur.

In other news, Ajith's upcoming film, Good Bad Ugly, is generating considerable excitement, and early premieres have been confirmed in both Telugu and Tamil. The premieres are scheduled for the night of April 9th, driven by high anticipation and strategic decisions regarding distribution and revenue expectations, particularly with Mythri Movies backing the film. The teaser has already created significant buzz, and fans eagerly await the release of the first single.
