Motionless in White Rocketing to No. 1 on Hard Rock Charts!

Motionless in White has achieved a significant milestone as their track, “Afraid of the Dark,” surged to the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. The song, which debuted at No. 8 just a week prior, ascended to the top position on the Feb. 14-dated tally following its first full seven days of tracking.
During the week ending Feb. 5, “Afraid of the Dark” garnered impressive figures, including 2.1 million official U.S. streams, an 18,000 airplay audience, and 2,000 units sold, according to Luminate. This performance significantly outpaced its initial two-day tracking period from its Jan. 28 release through Jan. 29, during which it accumulated 604,000 streams, 8,000 in radio reach, and 1,000 units sold.
This marks Motionless in White's inaugural No. 1 hit on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, which was established in 2020. The achievement surpasses their previous best of No. 5 with “Masterpiece” in 2022. The band has consistently performed well on the ranking, charting 13 entries in total, including six top 10 positions.
“Afraid of the Dark” stands out as the second new track to reach No. 1 on Hot Hard Rock Songs in 2026 and holds the distinction of being the first non-holiday tune to do so. It follows The Pretty Reckless’ rendition of “Where Are You Christmas?,” which led the chart on Jan. 3. In the interim, Sleep Token’s “Caramel” maintained its No. 1 run for 14 weeks, starting from April of the previous year.
Beyond the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, “Afraid of the Dark” also made a strong debut at No. 17 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs. This marks Motionless in White’s fifth entry on this chart and their highest-charting to date, surpassing “Masterpiece,” which peaked at No. 32. Furthermore, the single logged its second consecutive week atop Hard Rock Digital Song Sales, becoming Motionless in White’s third No. 1 on that specific chart, following “Timebomb” in 2021 and “Masterpiece.”
Currently, “Afraid of the Dark” is released as a standalone single, following their sixth studio album, Scoring the End of the World, released in 2022. That LP successfully debuted at No. 1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart in June 2022 and has since accumulated 406,000 equivalent album units. All Billboard charts dated Feb. 14 are scheduled for update on Billboard.com on Tuesday, Feb. 10.
