Morrissey Halts Shows Amid Chilling 'Credible Threat' to His Life

Morrissey, the iconic singer, recently announced the cancellation of his upcoming shows in Massachusetts and Connecticut, citing significant safety concerns. The news was shared via an Instagram post on Friday, September 19, stating, “Due to recent events and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, the upcoming shows this weekend at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall have been cancelled.”
The affected concerts included a performance at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut, on Friday, and another at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston the following day. All tickets purchased for these events are slated for automatic refund at the original point of purchase.
Further clarification regarding the cancellation was provided by MGM Music Hall on its Instagram page, which disclosed, “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life.” This statement underscored the serious nature of the decision to prioritize the safety of the artist and his band members.
While the exact details of the threat remain somewhat undisclosed, it is speculated to be linked to the recent arrest of Noah Castellano, a 26-year-old from Ottawa. Castellano was taken into custody after posting a threat on Bluesky, explicitly stating his intention to shoot and kill Morrissey with an illegal gun during a performance at TD Place in Ottawa on September 12, 2025. Despite this specific threat, Morrissey did perform the Ottawa show as scheduled.
Castellano was subsequently charged with threatening to cause death or bodily harm and was later released on a $5,000 bail. The events highlight the complex security challenges faced by public figures and the measures taken to ensure their safety.
