Military Dismisses Coup Plot Claims: Democracy Stands Resilient Amidst Rumors

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has unequivocally dismissed widespread speculations of an attempted military coup in Nigeria, firmly reiterating its unwavering loyalty to the nation's democratic governance. This clarification comes amidst revelations that a Brigadier General, a Colonel, a Lieutenant Colonel, and 13 other officers are currently in military custody for what the armed forces describe as professional misconduct.

Contrary to viral reports suggesting the officers were arrested over a failed coup plot slated for October 1, 2025, the DHQ maintained that its earlier statement on October 4 regarding the detention of the 16 officers never mentioned a coup.
