Miley Cyrus Returns to No. 1 With First Billboard 200 Leader in 13 Years
Miley Cyrus achieves her first No. 1 album in over a decade with “Bass Persuades,” topping the Billboard 200 chart dated October 3, 2026. The album launched with 61,000 equivalent units, marking her sixth chart-topper. The new chart also celebrates first-time top 10 entries for Riley Green and beabadoobee.
Miley Cyrus is back at the top of the Billboard 200.
Her new album, “Bass Persuades,” has debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated October 3, giving Cyrus her first chart-topping album in more than a decade. The project earned 61,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the week ending September 24, according to Luminate.
The result gives Cyrus her sixth No. 1 album and her 16th top-10 project. Her previous album to reach the summit was Bangerz, which topped the Billboard 200 in October 2013.
Strong sales drive the debut
“Bass Persuades” was announced on September 1 and released on September 18. Its title track arrived as the lead single on September 3 and later reached No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Cyrus her 24th top-40 hit.
The album's 61,000 units were driven mainly by 47,000 in album sales, while streaming contributed another 14,000 units. Its songs generated about 14.22 million official on-demand streams during the tracking week.
The album was also released in a wide range of physical and digital editions, including vinyl, CDs, cassettes and downloads.
That sales performance helped Cyrus return to the top after Something Beautiful, released in 2025, debuted at No. 4.
Riley Green and beabadoobee also break through
Cyrus was not the only artist celebrating a major chart result this week.
Country singer Riley Green opened at No. 3 with That's Just Me, earning 60,000 units. It is his highest-performing album by weekly units and gives him his first top-10 appearance on the Billboard 200.
Beabadoobee also reached a new career milestone. Her album “Pylon” debuted at No. 7 with 35,000 units, marking her first Billboard 200 top-10 album.
Ella Langley's Dandelion held No. 2 with nearly 61,000 units, while Morgan Wallen's I'm the Problem stayed at No. 4 with 58,000.
Olivia Rodrigo's you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love fell to No. 5, followed by Noah Kahan's The Great Divide at No. 6. Jhené Aiko's Westside Whimsy dropped from No. 1 to No. 8 in its second week.
Drake's ICEMAN landed at No. 9, while Kahan's Stick Season remained at No. 10.
A long wait ends
Cyrus's return to No. 1 is notable because of the gap between her latest chart-topper and Bangerz.
She has remained a major presence on the Billboard charts during that period, including with releases under both the Miley Cyrus name and her Hannah Montana soundtrack work. But “Bass Persuades” marks her first album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 since 2013.
She is also the third act in 2026 to return to No. 1 after a gap of at least 10 years, following Bruno Mars and A$AP Rocky.
For Cyrus, the latest result puts a new album at the centre of the U.S. music market again, more than a decade after Bangerz first took her to the top.
