She consequently lost an arm and eye, which were removed to avoid being paralysed after the gruesome attack.

During a live interview, the woman received a call from Sonko, who was touched by her heartbreaking story.

"I am so sorry for what you have been through. I have felt bad, and I will hold your hand. I will pay your rent for three months, and some doctors came from India, and I will help you get an eye transplant, and God will help you," he said.

Mbithe was emotional after the politician reached out to her and promised to change her life for the better.

She noted she was afraid she would never see again, as her right eye, which remained intact, was having issues.

However, her hopes were revived with the potentially life-changing call from Sonko, who has helped several individuals.

"I have taken your number and I have given my number to the media house. I will help you and God will help you too," Sonko said, as a grateful Mbithe wiped away her tears while appreciating the ex governor.

Sonko's response to the woman's cry was welcomed warmly as Kenyans lauded him for his kindness and thoughtful gesture.

In another story, Sonko came to the rescue of former Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua following his relapse.

Mbugua was found loitering in Thika and was immediately taken to Sonko's headquarters for care.

Kindhearted Sonko gave him new clothes, offered him a meal and arranged for him to be taken to a rehabilitation centre in Mombasa.
