Former Home and Away star Melissa George has undergone a dramatic transformation, sharing with her fans.

The 48-year-old is known for her long and luscious locks, but she debuted a new haircut on social media at the weekend.

The Australian actress, 48, was spotted showing off her signature locks as she stepped out in Paris at the Zimmermann show during Paris Fashion Week in March.

But she has gone a step further with a much shorter chop.

George, also known for The Amityville Horror and The Butterfly Tree, unveiled her new - tres chic - look at the weekend.

The Hollywood actress now has short, dark blonde hair, posting a selfie online.

Aussie icon unveils bold transformation

In it her hair is wet, perhaps from a dip in the pool seen in the background of the image. The jagged bob and the actress' side profile give off an edgy look.

The Bad Mothers star, who hails from Perth, currently resides in France with her three sons.

They include Raphaël, born 2014 and Solal, born 2015, whom she shares with her ex-partner Jean-David Blanc, the founder of entertainment website AlloCiné.

In March 2024 she welcomed son Lyor, though did not share who the father of the child was.

The family of four currently resides in France due to a strict custody agreement; her children can't leave the country with her without their father's consent.

The Logie award-winning actress explained this situation candidly in an Instagram post from her Parisian apartment.

"I was given 48 hours to find a home in Paris. I went Into a real estate agency with my boys in tears saying I am not French, without work, no one to sign for the lease, etc. and I am in need of a home for us three immediately," she wrote.

"The agent said 'come with me' she opened the door to my home and I fell in love."

The mother-of-three rarely returns to Australia, telling The Sydney Morning Herald in 2012 that she didn't want to come back because local media outlets would always mention her role as Angel Parrish on Home and Away.

''I think it will be the last time [I visit and work here] for a while, to be honest, because I just get too upset coming home,'' she said at the time.
