Kate Middleton’s outfits are not only chic, but they’re loaded with symbolism—and her Wimbledon ensemble on July 12 was no exception.
On July 13, the Princess of Wales was joined by her husband, Prince William, and two of their three kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, at the annual tennis tournament, the future queen in a royal blue Roksanda dress, Ralph Lauren pumps, and her LK Bennett straw sun hat, according to fashion site What Kate Wore. She accessorized with an Anya Hindmarch tote, a new Daniella Draper necklace, her Cartier Trinity earrings, and the Wimbledon pin in its traditional purple and green colors.

The day before, on July 12, Kate attended Wimbledon solo—and wore a nod to her marriage to William in the form of a Cartier watch given to her by her husband as a third wedding anniversary present in 2014. This is the second time this month that Kate wore the watch, which was worn in back-to-back appearances on July 2 and then, 10 days later, on July 12.
The Princess of Wales’s Cartier Ballon Bleu watch has blue hands—which accentuate the blue in Kate’s sapphire and diamond engagement ring—and retails for just over $8,000. It has since become a cherished accessory of hers and the stainless steel watch, according to People, was likely given to the royal—who was then the Duchess of Cambridge—during a trip to Australia in 2014, which fell within days of their third wedding anniversary that April 29.

On Saturday, Kate wore a favorite brand—Self Portrait—in What Kate Wore estimated was a bespoke piece. Her outfit worn on July 12 has strong similarities to an outfit by the same brand worn in 2023, also for the ladies’ final.
For Saturday’s solo outing, Kate carried her bag from Anya Hindmarch, her Gianvito Rossi Ribbon Sling Pumps, and a new pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses, as well as a Halcyon Days bangle, her Wimbledon pin, and her Cartier Trinity earrings—which have been an oft-worn favorite of the Princess of Wales lately.

Kate has been patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, a patronage she inherited from Queen Elizabeth.
“A pleasure to be back in SW19 for the finals of this year’s Wimbledon Championships this weekend,” the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Instagram account posted on July 14. “Congratulations again to Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner on your wins! And a huge thank you to everybody involved in making the tournament so special.”
Showcasing Wimbledon’s importance to her, in 2024, as she continued cancer treatment, one of Kate’s few public appearances in the first half of the year was to Wimbledon, where she took in the men’s final alongside her sister Pippa Middleton and her daughter Princess Charlotte.
As she wore her gift from William on July 12, Kate was met with a standing ovation at the tournament—and appeared emotional as attendees greeted her with an outpouring of love, much like they did the year prior.
