The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has made several structural changes in its leadership, with about 13 of its Programme Managers, Deputy Directors, and Medical Superintendents reassigned.

The reshuffling mainly affects the Public Health, Institutional Care, and Policy Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PPME) Divisions. Transfers were also made between the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Northern, Central, and Ahafo Regions.

In a letter addressed to Divisional and Regional Directors of Health Services, Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, Acting Director-General of GHS, announced that the new appointments will take effect on May 19, 2025. He noted that the reassignments are part of a broader national strategy to strengthen the health system.

The new appointments are as follows:

Dr. Kwame Amponsa-Achiano, Deputy Director (DCP) and Programme Manager, Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), Public Health Directorate (PHD), GHS Headquarters, will now serve as Deputy Director, DCP – PHD, GHS HQ.

Dr. Hilarius A. K. Abiwu, Deputy Director (Public Health), Northern Region, is appointed Acting Programme Manager, National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), PHD, GHS HQ.

Dr. Emmanuel A. A. Teviu, Deputy Director (Public Health), Ashanti Region, will serve as Acting Programme Manager, National AIDS Control Programme (NACP), PHD, GHS HQ.

Dr. Mrs. Selorm Kutsoati, District Director, La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA), is appointed Acting Programme Manager, EPI, PHD, GHS HQ.

Dr. Ziem Bernard, Deputy Director (Public Health), Ahafo Region, will serve as Acting Programme Manager, National Tuberculosis Control Programme (NTP), PHD, GHS HQ.

Dr. Wallace Odiko-Ollennu, Deputy Chief Dental Officer, Institutional Care Division (ICD), GHS HQ, is appointed Acting Programme Manager, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), PHD, GHS HQ.

Dr. Ebenezer Oduro-Mensah, Medical Superintendent, Greater Accra Region, will serve as Deputy Director, Clinical Care, ICD, GHS HQ.

Dr. Andrew Ayim, Deputy Director, PPME, GHS HQ, will serve as Deputy Director (Public Health), Ahafo Region.

Dr. Keziah Malm, Programme Manager, NMEP, PHD, GHS HQ, is reassigned as Deputy Director (Public Health), Ashanti Region.

Dr. Stephen Ayisi Addo, Programme Manager, NACP, PHD, GHS HQ, will serve as Acting Deputy Director (Public Health), Northern Region.

Dr. Yaw Adusi-Poku, Programme Manager, NTP, PHD, GHS HQ, is now appointed Programme Manager, National Leprosy Control Programme (NLCP), PHD, GHS HQ.

Dr. Efua Commeh, Acting Programme Manager, NCDs, PHD, GHS HQ, is reassigned as District Director, La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly.

Dr. Benedict Okoe-Quao, formerly with NLCP and Medical Superintendent, will now serve as Medical Superintendent, Ankaful Leprosarium, Central Region.
