Massive Flop: Matrix Creators' $185M Epic Drowned by New Sci-Fi Sensation!

The new science fiction blockbuster, Predator: Badlands, is making a final push towards significant box office milestones, aiming for $100 million domestically and $200 million worldwide. While its domestic run appears to be concluding, facing fresh competition from Five Nights at Freddy's 2 and the upcoming Avatar: Fire and Ash, the film has a stronger chance of surpassing the global target. Notably, Predator: Badlands is poised to outstrip the box office performance of Jupiter Ascending, a major sci-fi flop from the last decade.

Jupiter Ascending, released in 2015, received mediocre reviews and struggled at the box office. Produced on a reported budget of up to $210 million, it managed to earn only $184 million globally and under $50 million domestically. The film continued a series of disappointing theatrical releases for the Wachowskis, which included Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas. Lana Wachowski's solo directorial effort, The Matrix Resurrections, also failed to reverse this trend. Jupiter Ascending, which incorporated numerous fantasy tropes, starred Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum, Sean Bean, and Eddie Redmayne.
