Man Utd's Benjamin Sesko Faces Month-Long Layoff After Knee Injury

Manchester United's Slovenian striker, Benjamin Sesko, is anticipated to be sidelined for approximately one month due to a knee injury. The 22-year-old forward sustained the injury during Manchester United's 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur on November 8, just prior to the recent international break. Sesko, who joined United from RB Leipzig in August for a fee of £74 million, had come on as a second-half substitute but was unable to complete the match.

Initially, head coach Ruben Amorim expressed uncertainty regarding the severity of the problem. However, club sources attempted to alleviate concerns about a major injury. Despite this, Sesko was subsequently ruled out of Slovenia's World Cup qualifiers, and current expectations suggest an absence of around four weeks, though the precise duration of his recovery is still pending official confirmation.

Ruben Amorim is scheduled to provide an update on Sesko's condition during a news conference this week, ahead of Manchester United's Premier League fixture against Everton. This match is set to take place at Old Trafford on Monday at 20:00 GMT. Sesko's absence is likely to coincide briefly with the departure of fellow United forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo, who are expected to join their respective national teams for the Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament is scheduled to commence in Morocco on December 21.

While the Africa Cup of Nations approaches, Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, are not expected to release players at the earliest possible opportunity. This means they will likely have their full squad available for their home game against Bournemouth on December 15. Since his arrival at Manchester United, Benjamin Sesko has scored two goals in 12 appearances for the club.
