Tragedy has struck Orwaki Village in North Mugirango, Nyamira County, after a young man allegedly attacked and killed his father with an axe before setting him ablaze.

According to Hellen Kemuma, the mother of 20-year-old Frankline Ouru, the suspect reportedly had a verbal altercation with his father, 62-year-old Julius Ouru, before violently turning on him.

The young man is said to have forced his mother and siblings out of their home before carrying out the fatal attack.

Family members and neighbors describe Ouru as a violent individual. In February, he was accused of assaulting and fatally injuring the family's firstborn son, Douglas Ouru.

The family says it now lives in fear due to his continued threats and violent behavior.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Ibara Hospital mortuary in Kebirigo, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been arrested and is being held at the Ekerenyo Police Station as investigations continue.
