CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QC Life) - What started with a group of friends who loved bikes and good times has evolved into a local favorite.

Mac’s Speed Shop, known for their finger lickin’ good BBQ and sauces, is celebrating two decades of feeding hungry Charlotteans.

When Wynn Davis and Hall Johnston found an old garage in South End, then called Mac’s Automotive, they knew it was the perfect spot for a place that had good food, cold drinks and rock ‘n’ roll.

There are now nine locations in the Carolinas. They’re growing their BBQ empire with two more locations.

Celebrate Mac’s Speed Shop all weekend long with a special 20th anniversary party at all of their locations from May 16-18, 2025.

You’ll find live music, balloons and free birthday cake (while supplies last). A birthday tradition lives on with the $20 shirt and shot: a commemorative 20th anniversary shirt and a green tea shot.
