Luxury EV Market Shakeup: Polestar Offers Massive Discounts

Polestar, the Swedish electric performance car brand, is offering significant discounts on its Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 electric vehicles (EVs) as it navigates its exit from the U.S. market. This situation, while challenging for the Geely-owned brand, presents a unique opportunity for consumers to acquire a new EV at a substantially reduced price. The limited-time promotion, dubbed the “Clean Vehicle Incentive,” runs through the end of July 2026, requiring buyers to act quickly as the offer concludes on July 31.

Prospective buyers can avail up to $23,000 off a Polestar 3 when paying with cash or through financing with a 4.99% APR via Polestar Financial Services. For those interested in the Polestar 4, an even larger discount of up to $25,000 is available exclusively for cash buyers. These incentives make it possible to purchase a brand-new Polestar for a price comparable to, or even less than, some more budget-friendly options like a new Nissan Leaf.

For instance, a base Polestar 4 RWD compact EV SUV, offering up to 310 miles of range, can be acquired for as little as $32,800 after the discount. This price point is particularly competitive when compared to the 2026 Nissan Leaf S Plus, which starts at $31,535 and provides 303 miles of range. The Polestar 4 is also notable for its innovative design feature: a lack of traditional rear glass, replaced by a rear-mounted camera system feeding into a digital rearview mirror for enhanced visibility.

If a larger vehicle is desired, the Polestar 3 RWD midsize EV SUV is available, starting at $44,500 with the incentive applied. This positions it attractively against rivals such as the 2026 Chevrolet Blazer EV FWD LT, which is priced $1,995 higher before any potential Chevy incentives. The Polestar 3 also boasts superior performance metrics, with a 350-mile range and a robust 299-hp, 361-lb-ft motor, surpassing the Blazer EV FWD’s 312 miles of range, 220 hp, and 243 lb-ft.

It's important for buyers to understand the specific conditions attached to these incentives. The $23,000 discount for the Polestar 3 is contingent upon cash payment or financing through Polestar Financial Services at a 4.99% APR, while the $25,000 off for the Polestar 4 is strictly for cash purchases. Industry insights suggest that the varying conditions might be related to the vehicles’ manufacturing locations; the Polestar 4 is built in South Korea for the U.S. market, whereas the Polestar 3 is produced at Volvo’s Ridgeville plant in South Carolina.

These incentives apply only to vehicles that are delivered to owners by the program's end date of July 31. Furthermore, the offer is exclusively for regular consumers and does not extend to companies purchasing vehicles for fleet service, including dealer-affiliated fleet operations. All variants of both the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 are eligible for this “Clean Vehicle Incentive,” making it a comprehensive offer for individual buyers.
