Eight Children Killed in Shreveport Mass Murder — Louisiana's Worst in Recent Memory

At least eight children, aged 18 months to 14 years, were killed in a mass murder in the Cedar Grove neighbourhood of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Police say the incident appears domestic in nature and spanned at least four nearby crime scenes.

Two women survived gunshot wounds to the head. A young boy escaped injury by jumping from a roof.

The suspected killer was shot dead by police following a carjacking after the incident, according to Police Chief Wayne Smith.

Mayor Tom Arceneaux called it "maybe the worst tragic situation we've had" in the city's recent history.

A separate shooting near the University of Iowa injured five people, including three students, the same weekend.

The Gun Violence Archive had already recorded six mass murders in the US in 2026 before this incident.
