Lil Tjay's Explosive Return: Rapper Calls Out Offset After Posting Bond for Florida Shooting

Lil Tjay was arrested and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor disorderly conduct-affray in Florida.

The 24-year-old rapper, whose real name is Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested by police on Monday, April 6 and then booked in Broward County Jail, according to records obtained by PEOPLE.

His bond was set for $500 and paid before he was released Tuesday afternoon.

After leaving a Florida jail, Lil Tjay spoke with NBC and didn’t hold back about Offset, calling the Migos rapper a “rat” and threatening him.

Tjay claimed that during the shooting incident, the last thing he saw was Offset saying something like, “Yo, that guy shot me.” Tjay insisted he wasn’t involved in any fight, repeating that Offset “is a rat” and that he didn’t do any fighting.

When a reporter directly asked if he was the one who shot Offset, Tjay denied it strongly, saying, “Did I shoot Offset? That’s crazy.”

He even taunted Offset, saying he’d “slap the s–t out of” him and that Offset would never treat him that way in real life.

When asked about rumors that Offset owed him money, Tjay simply shrugged it off and told reporters to “ask Offset.”

Tjay Merritt was arrested after a fight at the valet area outside Seminole Hard Rock on Monday night, the Seminole Police Department confirmed, and he was booked into Broward County Jail.

Tjay’s lawyer, Dawn Florio, pushed back hard against claims that he was involved in the shooting.

She called the reports “false rumors” and stressed that Lil Tjay was not shot and has not been charged in connection with any shooting.

Florio urged people to check reliable news sources before sharing unverified information.

The Seminole Police Department said two people were taken into custody and that the investigation is still ongoing, but they never identified Tjay as the person who pulled the trigger in the incident involving Offset.

Rapper Offset, real name Kiari Cephus, was shot in the valet area outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

His injuries are not life-threatening, and he is stable in the hospital, and TMZ even shared photos of him in a hospital gown outside Memorial Regional Hospital, smoking.

Meanwhile, Lil Tjay is getting ready to release his new album They Just Ain’t You on May 1.

He’s already dropped singles like “First Time,” “Can’t Change,” and “Letter to My Block,” and has five entries on the Billboard 200.
