Lidl & B&M Ignite Dupe Frenzy: Viral Lush Shower Gel Lookalikes Hit Shelves for Pennies

Budget-conscious shoppers are flocking to retailers like Lidl and B&M to discover affordable alternatives, or "dupes," of popular high-end products, notably Lush shower gels. This trend is particularly evident as consumers look for ways to save money amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis, making luxury-like items accessible for gifts and personal use.
Lidl has garnered attention for its Deluxe Lavish Shower Gel, presented in two primary fragrances: Relax, a lavender scent, and Dizzy Rose, which offers a strawberry aroma. Lidl Plus members can purchase a 500ml bottle for £1.59, a 20% saving off the standard price of £1.99. This presents a significant saving when compared to Lush's Sleepy shower gel, which carries a "deeply relaxing lavender" scent and is priced at £27 for a 520g bottle, making Lidl's offering a remarkable £25.41 cheaper. Shoppers have also noted other available scents, including "winter fairy" and "honey," with many praising their resemblance to Lush's Snow Fairy.
Beyond shower gels, Lidl has expanded its "dupe" range to include kitchenware. The German discounter is selling cast iron casserole dishes, echoing the design and functionality of expensive Le Creuset products. A 1.35L version is available for £13.49, while a larger 4.7L dish costs £26.99. These cookware items, offered in bold orange, deep red, and sleek black, feature a durable enamel coating, are oven-safe up to 240°C, and compatible with all hob types, including induction. They also boast a clever drop-system lid to lock in flavor. Comparing these to Le Creuset, where a similar 1.35L dish costs £209 and a 4.7L version around £305, Lidl's offerings provide substantial savings of over £270 for the larger size, with Lidl Plus members receiving an additional 10% off.
Meanwhile, B&M has also entered the "dupe" market with its new Glow Studio Shower Gels gift box, priced at just £4. This collection includes three shower gel scents, each inspired by a popular Lush fragrance. The set features Berry Jam, reminiscent of Lush's Rose Jam; Candy Floss, a take on Lush's viral Christmas scent, Snow Fairy; and a fresh Apple Pie shower gel, akin to Lush's Temptation. Packaged in an attractive gold box, this set is presented as an ideal Christmas gift or a personal treat. With individual Lush shower gels starting at £8.80, a trio would typically cost £25.50, making B&M's £4 set a saving of £21.50.
Both retailers' offerings have generated considerable excitement among consumers, with social media platforms like the 'Extreme Couponing And Bargains UK' Facebook group buzzing with shoppers eager to snap up these budget-friendly alternatives. The demand highlights a strong consumer desire for quality products at accessible price points, particularly for items often used as gifts or personal luxuries. The availability of these "dupes" allows more people to enjoy the scents and experiences of premium brands without the hefty price tag, making them perfect stocking fillers and everyday indulgences.
