Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow issued a statement saying her office is in close contact with the police. She thanked first responders for their quick response and expressed concern for the affected families and the Lawrence Heights community.
Local councillor Mike Colle, who represents the area, called the scene “very upsetting” and likened it to the “wild, wild west.” He hoped that Lawrence Heights, which has seen peace in recent years, would not deserve this kind of violence.

This North York shooting has renewed concerns about public safety in a neighborhood that is currently undergoing a large-scale revitalization. While Toronto news reports have previously highlighted improvements in crime rates across the city, this incident has rattled local residents and prompted calls for increased support and safety measures.

The shooting has drawn widespread media attention, with coverage from major outlets including CTV and CP24, both of which reported live updates from the scene.
