Lainey Wilson's Film Debut Trailer Drops: Country Star Takes On Colleen Hoover Adaptation

Country music sensation Lainey Wilson is set to make her feature film debut in the upcoming adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, Reminders of Him. Fans were given an early glimpse of Wilson’s performance in a trailer released on Tuesday, October 21st, ahead of the movie’s theatrical release on March 13th.
The film centers on the poignant story of Kenna Rowan, portrayed by Maika Monroe, who returns to her Wyoming hometown after serving seven years in prison for a past mistake. Her primary goal is to reconnect with her young daughter, Diem. However, Diem’s custodial grandparents, Grace (Lauren Graham) and Patrick (Bradley Whitford), initially deny Kenna the chance to reunite. Amidst her struggles, Kenna forms a connection with Ledger Ward, a local bar owner played by Tyriq Withers.
Lainey Wilson takes on the role of Amy, Kenna’s friend and coworker. In a brief scene from the trailer, Wilson’s character is seen engaging with Kenna, asking, “What’s your trauma?” Kenna reveals her recent release from prison and her difficulty finding employment, to which Wilson’s Amy humorously replies, “Sh—, you win.” This role marks a significant step for Wilson into the world of cinema, following her recurring role on the hit television series Yellowstone.
Reminders of Him is an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s 2022 book, which achieved immense success by selling over 6 million copies in the United States. Hoover is also the author of another chart-topping novel, It Ends With Us, which was recently adapted into a movie starring Blake Lively. The supporting cast for Reminders of Him includes Rudy Pankow as Diem’s father Scotty, Jennifer Robertson as Kenna’s landlord Ruth, and Zoe Kosovic portraying Kenna’s daughter.
Beyond her acting endeavors, Lainey Wilson continues to be a dominant force in the music industry. She recently released a new EP titled Peace, Love & Cowboys (Holiday Edition) on October 17th. A leading nominee at the upcoming CMA Awards, Wilson is slated to host this year’s show solo, after co-hosting with Peyton Manning and Luke Bryan last year. She is also currently on her successful headlining Whirlwind World Tour, which has seen sold-out performances at prestigious venues like New York’s Madison Square Garden and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
