The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, has declared Senior Comrade Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, Chairman of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, LCDA, the winner of the 2025 local government elections.
Akinsanya, who contested under the banner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, secured a commanding victory with 14,488 votes, defeating all opponents and securing a second term in office.
The election, conducted on Saturday across all wards within the LCDA, saw the APC record sweeping victories in key areas such as Igando, Akesan, Egan, Ijegun, and Abaranje.
LASIEC officials confirmed that Akinsanya emerged victorious in every polling unit across the LCDA.
Despite early indications of voter apathy, turnout improved steadily throughout the day, with many residents, particularly APC supporters, flocking to the polls to cast their votes in favour of the incumbent.
As results were announced, jubilant celebrations broke out across the LCDA, with supporters flooding the streets to celebrate the APC’s triumph.
Community leaders and residents hailed the outcome as a strong vote of confidence in Akinsanya’s leadership and commitment to grassroots development.
In his acceptance speech, Akinsanya expressed deep gratitude to the electorate, vowing to consolidate the progress made during his first term.
“This victory is for the people of Igando-Ikotun. I deeply appreciate the trust and support shown to me once again. I promise to redouble our efforts to deliver even more impactful projects and inclusive governance,” he said.
