Kwara United Readies for CAF Confederation Cup Showdown with Asante Kotoko

Kwara United is gearing up for a significant challenge as they prepare to face Asante Kotoko in the preliminary round first-leg tie of the CAF Confederation Cup. The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, and will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Captain Kabiru Mohammed has conveyed the team's readiness, both physically and mentally, for the crucial continental fixture. He acknowledged the inherent difficulties of playing against Asante Kotoko, citing their playing style and the formidable support from their home fans. “We know the match against Asante Kotoko won’t be easy because of the way they play and the home fans support, but we are ready physically and mentally for the game,” Mohammed stated, underscoring the team's determination.
Adding to the team's preparations, Technical Adviser Tunde Sanni recently lauded his players for their performance in a goalless draw against Warri Wolves. Sanni views this result as a positive indicator for their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup match, suggesting that overcoming pressure in their domestic league game will stand them in good stead for the challenge in Ghana. He remarked, “If we can survive the pressure here against Warri Wolves we can do the same in Ghana.” This match against Warri Wolves was a matchday four fixture held in Ozoro, after which Kwara United moved to 10th position on the league table with five points.
Looking ahead, the Harmony Boys will host Asante Kotoko for the return leg of the preliminary round a week after the first encounter. This home leg will be played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. Additionally, Kwara United's next league game will be against Plateau United.
