KPop Phenomenon 'Golden' Smashes UK Chart Records with Ninth Week at No. 1!

Significant shifts have occurred across the U.K. music charts, with KPop Demon Hunters' track “Golden” reclaiming the coveted top position on the Singles Chart on Friday, October 31st. This marks the end of Taylor Swift’s three-week consecutive run at No. 1 with her single “The Fate of Ophelia.” “Golden,” which is credited to the animated group HUNTR/X and features vocals from EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami, has now accumulated an impressive nine non-consecutive weeks at the No. 1 spot on the U.K. Official Singles Chart. This achievement establishes a new record for the longest-running No. 1 single by an animated act, surpassing previous records held by The Archies’ “Sugar Sugar,” which dominated for eight weeks in 1969, and Disney’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from 2022’s Encanto, which managed seven weeks at the top. The song's success is further bolstered by its inclusion in a popular Netflix film.

Taylor Swift's “The Fate of Ophelia,” derived from her album *The Life of a Showgirl*, concluded its chart-topping tenure and gracefully descended one spot to No. 2. Its three-week run at No. 1 was a notable achievement for Swift, becoming her longest-running No. 1 single since “Anti-Hero” from her 2022 album *Midnights* secured six weeks at the summit. In contrast, her more recent releases, “Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)” from 2023 and “Fortnight” from 2024, each spent only a single week at the No. 1 position. Elsewhere on the Singles Chart, the track “Opalite” experienced a slight ascent, lifting one place to No. 4, indicating ongoing movement and competition within the top tier.

The U.K. Albums Chart also witnessed a significant reshuffle, with Taylor Swift’s *The Life of a Showgirl* falling to No. 3. The new leader on the Albums Chart is Dave’s critically acclaimed *The Boy Who Played The Harp*, securing the No. 1 position. Following closely behind at No. 2 is Bon Jovi’s *Forever: Legendary Edition*, marking a strong performance for the veteran rock band.

Beyond the top spots, several other artists made significant impacts. RAYE’s single “Where Is My Husband!” continued its upward trajectory, reaching a new peak at No. 3 on the Singles Chart. This success follows her previous No. 1 hit in 2022 with “Escapism,” a collaboration featuring 070 Shake. Dave not only dominated the Albums Chart but also left a considerable mark on the Singles Chart with his collaboration with Tems, “Raindance,” making a strong debut at No. 5. Furthermore, two additional tracks from his chart-topping album *The Boy Who Played The Harp*, namely “History” and “Chapter 16,” also charted at No. 9 and No. 11, respectively, demonstrating the album's broad appeal. Lily Allen also enjoyed a robust week, with multiple songs from her album *West End Girl* entering the charts, including “Pussy Palace” at No. 12, the album’s title track “West End Girl” at No. 17, and “Madeline” at No. 19, underscoring her continued relevance in the music landscape.
