Kojo Owusu, 30, of Brentwood, struck, killed while crossing road, police say
A Brentwood man was fatally struck by a minivan while crossing Suffolk Avenue near Fourth Street on Saturday morning, police said.
Kojo Owusu, 30, was heading eastbound across the road just before 5 a.m. when a 2012 Dodge Caravan driven by a 50-year-old woman slammed into him, according to Suffolk County police.
First responders took Owusu to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he died, authorities said.
The driver of the minivan remained at the scene and has not been charged, according to police.
The Suffolk County police Third Squad detectives are still investigating the crash and the minivan has been impounded for a safety check.
Family members of Owusu did not respond to calls for comment.
Representatives for the driver could not be reached.
