In the matter of a girl student attempting self-immolation in Balasore, today Odisha Higher Education Minister visited AIIMS hospital in Bhubaneswar and met the victim to take stock of her health condition. HE Minister Suryavanshi Suraj said that he inquired about the student’s health while she was undergoing treatment.

The student has now been shifted from the trauma care unit to the Burn ward. Minister Suryavanshi said that they are trying their best to provide the best treatment to the victim student at AIIMS.

The Higher Education Minister also said that the Higher Education Department has taken strict action against the accused. This is an unfortunate incident. The state government has taken the incident with sensitivity. Both the HoD and the Principal have been suspended. The HoD of Education Department of FM College against whom the girl student had brought misbehave allegations, has been arrested.

A committee is being formed with a senior female officer of the secretary level, a senior academician, and the lady principal of another college.

We would like to take strict action in this case, so that such incidents do not happen in the future.
