Kisumu Rally Security Assured Despite Political Tensions Ahead of Linda Mwananchi Event
Inspector General Douglas Kanja assured a Senate committee on April 23 that the rally would proceed peacefully under comprehensive security deployment, following concerns raised by Senator Godfrey Osotsi who was attacked and robbed at a Kisumu eatery on April 8.
Three suspects have been arrested, charged with robbery with violence, and released on a Sh1 million bond each, with their case returning to court on May 6.
Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi condemned rally organizers, including Siaya Governor James Orengo for what he described as performative politics, and warned against personal attacks on ODM's Oburu Oginga.
Atandi reaffirmed his camp's alignment with President Ruto, urging Kisumu residents to focus on development issues rather than divisive rhetoric.
