Veteran Tanzanian singer Khadija Kopa has addressed claims made by Diamond Platnumz about marrying her daughter, Zuhura Othman, better known as Zuchu.

Speaking to Tanzanian media, Khadija kept her comments brief but clear and explained that she has yet to receive any formal approach or dowry for Zuchu’s marriage.

"I haven't seen or heard of anyone or any marriage, I don't know about those issues," Khadija said seemingly irate.

She urged the media to direct such inquiries to Diamond and Zuchu themselves saying:

"I haven't seen him, if I had, I would have told you, but I haven’t."

When questioned about Diamond’s numerous promises over the years to marry Zuchu, which have yet to come to fruition, Khadija explained that Diamond has never made any promise to her directly and she does not expect any.

Regarding the dowry, Khadija emphasised that marriage will happen when someone approaches her daughter with the proper marriage proposal.

"The marriage will come when someone comes to ask for my daughter’s hand, we will take the dowry and she will get married," she stated firmly.

Khadija also stated that she can't control when Zuchu will get married, saying her daughter is not responsible for finding a husband.

"Siwezi nikamuuliza ataolewa lini, kwani yeye ndio namtafuta mume ama mume anakuja mwenyewe?"

The Taarab singer's statements come in contrast to Diamond's recent revelation during a CCM political rally in Dodoma on January 19, where he publicly declared his intention to marry Zuchu before the start of Ramadan.

While Khadija refrained from commenting on Diamond’s declaration, her response has raised more questions about the timing and seriousness of their marriage plans.
