Kenya Shaken: Grade 9 Student Arrested in Brutal Murders of Two Young Girls in Kisii

Police in Kisii South have apprehended a Grade 9 student as the prime suspect in the heinous murders of two young girls, Annah Bahati, aged 4, and Stacy Nyanchama, aged 5. The gruesome incident, which unfolded in Nkura Village, Suneka area, has left residents in shock and mourning, prompting widespread outrage and calls for swift justice.

The tragic events began on a Tuesday evening when the two victims, who were in PP2, disappeared while playing outside their home. Annah's mother, Juliet Wache, recounted that by 6:30 PM, the children had not returned, initiating a frantic, village-wide search. Hours later, the search culminated in a heartbreaking discovery. Catherine Kemuma, a family member, received a distressing call while at the local police station filing a missing persons report, informing them that the children had been found.

The lifeless bodies of Annah and Stacy were discovered dumped in a nearby banana plantation, brutally stuffed inside sacks. Adding to the horror, their slippers were found in a pit latrine. Cyprian Geno, a relative who stumbled upon the grim scene, described the painful moment: "I am the one who found them. One child was on the side and the other was lying there lifeless. It was very painful." Faith Ondimu, Stacy's mother, echoed the emotional toll, stating, "As we were searching for the children, my heart kept rejecting the idea that they were still within the compound. Moments later, I heard people screaming…"

Initial police investigations by detectives from the Suneka Police Station paint a deeply disturbing picture. Authorities suspect that the two minors were abducted, allegedly defiled, and poisoned before their bodies were abandoned under the cover of darkness. The Grade 9 student was swiftly apprehended and is currently undergoing interrogation to establish the motive behind the heinous crime and to determine if any accomplices were involved.

The bodies of Annah Bahati and Stacy Nyanchama have since been moved to the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for a comprehensive post-mortem examination.
