Katy Perry's 'Bandaids' Video Teaser Promises Explosive Chaos and Accidents

Katy Perry, known for embracing her charmingly clumsy persona, is leaning into this aspect of her brand with the new preview for her upcoming single, “Bandaids.” Following a cryptic tease on Tuesday, November 4, which featured an image of her bruised and somber face, Perry released an eight-second video preview for the song, slated for release at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 6. This sneak peek, though devoid of music, offers a visual narrative where things escalate dramatically for the pop star.
The preview for “Bandaids” depicts Perry experiencing a series of increasingly dire, self-inflicted calamities. It opens with the 41-year-old artist placing her hand into a garbage disposal, an action that unexpectedly results in a geyser of blood as her unseen fingers are chewed up, splattering the white sink with gore. Her misadventures continue as she saws through a giant tree branch she is perched on, leading to a precipitous fall. Subsequently, Perry suffers a major face plant after tripping at the top of an escalator in a mall, and is then seriously electrocuted while walking through a puddle at a gas station.
The unfortunate events for Perry do not cease there. While enjoying a coffee at the Crumb Café, she is suddenly blasted with shards of glass from an unseen explosion. She then finds herself dodging gigantic tree trunks that fall from an 18-wheeler on the highway. The grim sequence culminates with Perry, already covered in dirt, bruises, scratches, and bandages, being obliterated in a massive, fiery blast after lighting a cigarette. The meaning behind these dramatic visuals remains a mystery, leaving fans to await the full release to uncover the narrative.
At the time of the preview's release, a spokesperson for Perry had not responded to Billboard's request for clarification on whether “Bandaids” is a standalone single or part of a forthcoming album. This new track follows her seventh studio album, “143,” which was released last September. The album debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured production from notable figures such as Dr. Luke, Max Martin, and Stargate. The lead single from “143,” “Woman’s World,” reached No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, followed by other tracks including “Lifetimes” and “I’m His, He’s Mine,” featuring Doechii.
