Katsina: ADC, PDP hold counter-rallies, vow to oust APC in 2027

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday afternoon held counter-rallies in Katsina State with a vow to oust the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) come the 2027 general polls.

While the ADC, which is a Coalition of Political Parties, held its inaugural rally, the PDP held theirs to showcase their numerical strength and counter allegations of mass defections to the coalition.

Both political parties said the ruling APC at both state and national levels have brought untold hardship on Nigerians, and that it was only right to oust them so that the country’s plight can be salvaged.

Speaking, the Katsina State ADC chairman, Lawal Batagarawa lamented that the country has continued to face multiple challenges of insecurity, poor economic policies, inflation, and naira devaluation.

Batagarawa said the party is not only aimed at winning the general elections in 2027; it also wants to fix the country and move her out of what the APC has put her into.

According to him, “We not only want to win the 2027 elections, but we also want to repair the country where everyone matters as we fight terrorism, banditry which is the first thing we would do because every part of the country needs peace and stability.

“Secondly, we will boost the economy of this country to fight poverty. Thirdly, we will fight illiteracy.”

He assured that the party’s leadership in the state would carry everyone along by ensuring equality for old and new members.

On his part, the Katsina PDP chairman, Nura Kurfi dismissed the notion that the party was dead in the state, and that many of its members had left and joined the coalition.

Kurfi said those suggesting the PDP was dead in the state were some of its former members who had tried to illegally hijack the party for their selfish interests.

“PDP is still intact, and those that left have not reduced the party’s numerical strength in any way. Anyone wanting a collation should come aligne with the PDP and not vice versa,” he said.

He, however, called on party members who had joined the coaltion to return and work with the party’s leadership in order to salvage country from what it currently faces in the hands of the APC.
