Kasarani Stadium Confirmed as CHAN Final Venue

The Confederations of African Football (CAF) has officially announced Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda as co-hosts for the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN). This significant event, which marks a return to East African soil following the 2016 edition in Rwanda, is scheduled to take place from August 2 to August 30, 2024, promising a month of intense continental football action.

Key matches of the tournament will be distributed among prominent stadiums in the host nations. The opening match of the 2024 CAF African Nations Championship will kick off on August 2 at Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Uganda’s Mandela Stadium in Kampala has been designated to host the third and fourth place play-off. The highly anticipated final match of the competition will be held on August 30, 2024, at Kenya’s Kasarani International Stadium in Nairobi. This venue was notably visited by CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe on December 20, 2024, as part of ongoing preparations for the prestigious tournament.

In a move that underscores CAF’s commitment to expanding the reach and inclusivity of African football, Zanzibar has also been designated as one of the host venues. Zanzibar’s Amaan Stadium, which successfully staged a CAF Confederation Cup 2024/25 Final earlier this year, will welcome teams for the group stages.

The host cities for the group stages have been strategically assigned. Nairobi, Kenya, will serve as the hub for Group A, comprising Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, will host Group B, which includes Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic. Kampala, Uganda, is set to welcome Group C, featuring Uganda, Niger, Guinea, South Africa, and Algeria. Lastly, Zanzibar will host Group D, with teams from Senegal, Congo, Sudan, and Nigeria battling it out for progression.
