The Harambee Starlets, Kenya's national women's football team, have showcased an impressive performance at the ongoing Cecafa Senior Women’s Challenge Cup in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, extending their unbeaten streak to three matches. Their dominance in the tournament has positioned them as strong contenders, setting the stage for a decisive final match against table leaders Tanzania.

Their latest triumph came against South Sudan, whom they thrashed 4-0 at Azam Complex. The scoring began early, with Faith Mboya finding the net just three minutes into the game. Despite South Sudan's defensive efforts, the Starlets broke through decisively in the second half, with goals from Violet Nanjala Wanyonyi, Martha Amunyolet Emedot, and Elizabeth Ochaka, securing another commanding victory. Coach Beldine Lilian Odemba expressed her satisfaction with the team's prolific scoring, stating, “I am happy that the team is working hard to score many goals and we hope to put up another good performance against Tanzania on Saturday.”

The Championship, structured as a round-robin tournament among five teams, is building up to its climax this Saturday with the highly anticipated clash between Kenya and Tanzania. Both teams have accrued nine points, but Tanzania, also known as the Twiga Stars, hold a slight advantage with a better goal difference. Tanzania is notably utilizing this championship as preparation for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), underscoring the high stakes of the tournament.

The Harambee Starlets’ journey in the tournament began with a perfect start last Sunday, where they comfortably defeated Burundi 3-0. Martha Amunyole was a standout performer in that match, scoring a brace, while Faith Mboya added another goal to seal the win.

Maintaining their impeccable record, the Starlets followed up with a convincing 4-0 victory over their arch-rivals and defending champions, Uganda Crested Cranes, at Aazam Complex. Diana Wacera opened the scoring in the 18th minute, followed by captain Dorcas Shikobe who doubled the lead just eight minutes later. Violet Nanjala then ensured a healthy 3-0 lead for Beldine Odemba's charges at halftime. Martha Emedot rounded off the comprehensive win late in the second half, reaffirming the team's offensive prowess and defensive solidity throughout the competition.
