Karan Johar to launch 24th debutant director with Akshay Kumar's Kesari 2 | Filmfare.com
Karan Johar shared a lengthy note hinting at the upcoming announcement of Kesari Chapter 2, which features Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday and R Madhavan. Teasing the much-awaited sequel, he opened up about the launch of Dharma Productions' 24th debutant director, Karan Singh Tyagi, who is set to helm the project.
On Thursday, Karan Johar took to social media and shared a long note. Reflecting on his initial years as a producer, he wrote, “When I began producing films in 2003 with Kal Ho Naa Ho, the idea was to empower filmmakers and storytellers… to pay it forward. We got it right... we got it wrong - but the intent was always to put out stories and films we believed in.”

Addressing trolls, he shared, "I am so proud to say that our next offering is the 24th debutant filmmaker we have introduced to Hindi cinema! (Trivia for trollers: 90% of them are 'outsiders') I rarely write notes before the release of a film but few films excite me, energise me and inspire me the way the process of his film has."
He further shared, "One can never predict commercial success but what I can say with all my heart is that this film is one of Dharma's proudest films! I pray for the team that the audience is coloured in the colour of their passion. See you at the movies!”
While Karan did not directly mention Kesari 2, the orange colour of the post gives away the subject of his note.
Kesari Chapter 2 will mark the directorial debut of writer Karan Singh Tyagi, who has reportedly spent the past four years working on the film. The production went through challenges, including the pandemic. The film's plot is based on the heroic life of C. Sankaran Nair, who fought against the British to unravel the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film will mark Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday's first onscreen collaboration.
Kesari Chapter 2 is slated to release on April 18, 2025.
