Kano Pillars , RFI sign N100m partnership deal
Kano Pillars Football Club has signed a N100 million partnership agreement with Radio France Internationale, RFI, Hausa to enhance the club’s development and media visibility.
The agreement was unveiled on Thursday at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, during a ceremony attended by officials of both organisations.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager of Kano Pillars and former Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, who signed on behalf of the club described the deal as a major milestone for the club.
Mr Musa said the partnership would strengthen the club’s branding, operations, and media reach.
“RFI is offering far more than we expected. They are contributing ₦5 million in cash, along with a total support package worth around ₦100 million.”
“This is a proud moment for Kano Pillars. We are happy to welcome RFI Hausa into the Kano Pillars family,” he said.
According to him, the one year partnership is valued at N100 million, comprising N45 million in cash and N55 million in equipment and services.
He said the support package includes digital media equipment such as cameras and computers, monthly training for the club’s media team, and new jerseys to be sponsored by RFI Hausa.
A prototype of the jersey, which incorporates traditional Kano designs, was unveiled at the event.
Mr Musa called on individuals and organisations to emulate RFI Hausa by partnering with the club to promote football development in the state.
Also speaking, Director and Chief Coordinator of RFI Hausa in Nigeria, Joseph Penny, said the partnership aims to project Kano Pillars to a wider international audience.
He said RFI Hausa would assist the club in content creation and in boosting its social media footprint.
“The partnership goes beyond logo placement on jerseys. It is about supporting the club’s heritage and growth,” Penny said.
He noted that RFI Hausa, with over 1.6 million followers on Facebook and nearly 800,000 on TikTok, would leverage its platforms.
He said partnership aligns with the organisation’s commitment to promoting sports and community engagement across Nigeria and beyond.
“We are here to support Ahmed Musa’s visionary leadership,” he stated.
“Kano Pillars Football Club is one of Nigeria’s most storied football institutions.
“This groundbreaking partnership, under the leadership of football legend Ahmed Musa, will help propel the club to greater heights, ” he said.
According to him, it is RFI’s first football sponsorship in history which includes full sponsorship of new kits, provision of state-of-the-art media equipment for club communications among others.
The agreement covers all categories of the club, including the senior team, the second team, Junior Pillars, and youth teams in the U-13, U-15, and U-19 brackets.
