KALKI Unveils Chapter with Grammy-Nominated Raja Kumari

KALKI, an Indian fashion house, has unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration with Grammy-nominated artist Raja Kumari, marking a significant cultural shift in the realm of couture. Launched on July 11th, this first-of-its-kind capsule collection, titled "Worn To The Beat," seamlessly fuses power, heritage, and self-expression, delivering a clear message that this is couture designed for the 'main character'.
The collaboration extends beyond fashion into music, as Raja Kumari has reimagined her track "LA INDIA" exclusively for the collection. This new rendition serves as a sonic homage to roots, identity, and international pride, with lyrics echoing the unapologetic energy of the garments. The campaign further blurs the lines between fashion and music through a music video featuring Raja Kumari wearing looks from the collection, creating an intersection where the runway meets the mic.
Raja Kumari's involvement goes beyond being just a campaign face; she is a co-creator who has infused her "global desi lens" into each silhouette. This partnership is not about merely borrowing from heritage but about embracing and owning it. The collection showcases bold silhouettes designed to command attention, including corseted gowns, innovative cape-saris, structured drapes, and lehengas with a rebellious edge.
A core tenet of the collection is inclusivity, which serves as its foundation. The pieces are specifically crafted for women who are often celebrated but frequently underserved by the fashion industry. Whether it's high-slit gowns, liquid satins, or sculpted velvets, each look prioritizes form, comfort, and empowerment. A notable feature is the pricing strategy: every piece is uniformly priced between INR 40,000 and INR 70,000 across all sizes, a deliberate move to challenge conventional industry norms and ensure that self-expression is not hindered by size restrictions or premium tags.
Visually, the collection exudes opulence through its meticulous detailing. The dominant color palette features deep shades of oxblood, berry, and wine, complemented by grounding earthy blushes and neutrals. Futuristic accents of platinum and gold add a modern sheen. Signature KALKI design codes, such as statement sleeves, jeweled bodices, and dramatic drapes, further elevate the glamour quotient, ensuring each piece is crafted not just to be worn, but to be owned.
Both collaborators express their vision for the collection. Raja Kumari states, "This collection is a celebration of identity, power, and heritage. We’ve created something for the main characters, the rule-breakers, the glam goddesses. This is Desi luxury on a global frequency. I hope every woman who wears these pieces feels seen, celebrated, and unstoppable." Saurabh Gupta, CEO & Founder of KALKI, adds, "With Raja Kumari, we’ve created more than a collection—it’s where music meets couture, and every body finds its rhythm. This is fashion that moves with you, no matter your size or stage." The KALKI design team further emphasizes that the collection "breaks moulds while honouring our roots. It’s tradition with swagger, couture with a heartbeat."
The KALKI x Raja Kumari capsule collection is now accessible for purchase online at www.kalkifashion.com and at all KALKI flagship stores.
