Kajol says KKHH would be mocked today, predicts Shah Rukh-Rani film would be 'the opposite': 'Hum Galat The' | - Times of India
The 1998 romantic drama Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, has long been controversial due to its traditional message. In the movie, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) doesn't start to feel anything for Anjali (played by Kajol) until she wears a saree, grows her hair long, and complies with socially acceptable femininity.
When SRK noticed her character displayed a "tomboy look" during their college years, she became truly friendzoned.Kajol considered her role and the film's message in an interview with The Lallantop. She acknowledged that if 'KKHH' were produced in the present day, people would "laugh" at it and the narrative would be entirely different. Additionally, the actor stated that they were mistaken about the social theme and that it was created just for "entertainment."When asked if she has any thoughts about her character during a conversation, Kajol replied, "No. We made that film only for entertainment. And I feel that films reflect society. That is exactly what Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was. People thought like that at that point of time.”“Agar aaj KKHH banaane jaate toh we would be laughed out, " she continued. “That tomboy cut would probably be part of the second half. Pehle saree mein thi toh pasand nahi aayi thi; uske baad when she started playing basketball and became cool is when he started liking her.
It would be the opposite, rather than this way round. (If we made KKHH today, we would be laughed out. That tomboy cut would probably be part of the second half.
She will not be liked when she is in a saree; when she started playing basketball and became cool is when he started liking her. It would be the opposite, rather than this way round.”According to Kajol, the movie did the audience of the 1990s justice because those were the prevailing views of the time.
"Kuch Kuch Hota Hai uss waqt ke liye sahi thi." She stated, "If we did it today or point out what was right or wrong, shayad hum galat hain usmein (If we dissected it today, we were wrong in that film)."Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, the movie with the greatest sales of 1998, was a huge hit directed by Karan Johar. It is still regarded as a popular movie today and stars Rani Mukerji. The story revolved around Anjali, a tomboy who adores Rahul, her college best friend.
She is in pain, though, when he weds Tina, a classmate. Rahul's daughter is instructed to bring him and Anjali back together eight years later.Regarding her career, Kajol most recently starred in the mythological horror film Maa. The actor's next appearance will be in the OTT movie Sarzameen, which also stars Ibrahim Ali Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran. On July 25, Jio Hotstar will launch it.
