Kaduna: Uba Sani links communities with historic 35km road
Governor Uba Sani has ended decades of isolation for some rural communities in Kaduna state with the completion of a 35-kilometre road linking Gadan Gayan in Igabi Local Government Area (LGA) to Gwaraji, Maraban Kujama in Chikun LGA, and Kauru town in Kauru LGA.

The strategic road, long abandoned and seen by locals as a forgotten project, has now reopened economic activities across several agrarian settlements, drawing praises from residents who described it as “life-changing.”
During an inspection tour led by the Managing Director of Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Dr. Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, locals narrated how the road had eased transportation, slashed costs, and improved their livelihoods.
Daniel Samuel, a health worker in Gwaraji, said the road had transformed daily commuting from Maraban Kujama to Igabi, describing it as “a game-changer” that cut costs and travel time.
Similarly, Ibrahim Ardo, a community elder, said the new road had connected communities that had lived for over a century without access roads, recalling how residents previously relied on canoes to cross the River Kaduna to access neighbouring villages.
“This is not just a road. It’s life. It’s hope for our people,” Ardo said.
Dr. Baba Ahmed however said the 35km project is among Governor Uba Sani’s rural transformation initiatives aimed at bridging the urban-rural divide and boosting Kaduna’s agricultural economy.
