Dr. Meyere specifically highlighted the national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) awarded to Governor Uba Sani, describing it as a well-deserved recognition for a patriot who risked his life for the sake of democracy.

The Secretary to the State Government further elaborated that Governor Uba Sani and President Tinubu were actively involved in the struggle for the entrenchment of democracy, operating from the front lines while many contemporary political figures remained in their comfort zones. The statement also acknowledged the immense resilience and profound sacrifices made by millions of ordinary citizens whose fervent yearning for democracy significantly aided the efforts of civil rights activists, dedicated journalists, and human rights lawyers, ultimately leading to the return of the military to their barracks.

Dr. Meyere noted that Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to the common man did not cease with the establishment of democracy. He emphasized that the Governor’s pro-poor legislation during his tenure in the Senate and his subsequent people-centered policies and programs as Governor of Kaduna State are a clear manifestation of his ideals for a better, more equitable society. The statement characterized the national honor as the “icing on the cake” among a series of awards and recognitions that the beloved Governor has been receiving since he assumed office two years prior.
