has continued to climb up a major chart for the franchise. The movie is the sixth sequel to Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster Jurassic Park. The standalone story stars Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonathan Bailey as members of a team who are sent to extract dinosaur DNA on an island full of mutant genetic experiments.

The Jurassic World Rebirth release kicked off on the Wednesday of Fourth of July weekend, and a 5-day holiday debut of $147.8 million.

Per Deadline, as of Saturday morning, Jurassic World Rebirth is projected to earn a 3-day domestic total of $38.7 million by the end of its sophomore weekend. This will .

In addition to seeing it become only the fifth movie of 2025 to pass the $230 million domestic milestone, this total means that ($229 million) to become the fifth highest-grossing movie of the franchise in North America by the end of its 12th day in theaters.

Because Rebirth is the seventh installment of a franchise that has a number of hit blockbusters to its name, it will become increasingly difficult for it to climb up the domestic chart for Jurassic Park. Ultimately, Rebirth doesn't seem likely to outperform Dominion at the domestic box office. It had , falling below Dominion by more than $50 million. It would have to have an outstanding audience hold in order to eventually climb past the 2022 movie's all-time domestic gross.

However, that has not proven to be the case so far. Rebirth's projected sophomore weekend gross sees it dropping 58% from its debut weekend, which almost exactly matches the 59.2% drop that Dominion itself experienced. This puts both movies on a similar trajectory, so the new installment .

Even if the new movie remains the third lowest-grossing installment, this does not necessarily mean that it will be a commercial failure. The reported budget of Jurassic World Rebirth is only $180 million, which makes it, which have reported budgets that range between $170 and $215 million.

Jurassic World Rebirth's ending forces the last survivors to try and escape the mutant D-Rex, which could set up the future direction of the series.

Because the franchise is littered with billion-dollar hits, there is plenty of room for to turn a solid profit against its budget with its worldwide gross without surpassing the box office of the previous installments.
