Bollywood beauty Janhvi Kapoor is a conscious eater and eats home-cooked protein rich meals to keep herself fit and healthy. Tap to read her favourite moong dal chilla recipe!

Moong dal is packed with protein fibre and antioxidants that helps you keep full for longer. It is easy and light on the stomach

Two cups of moong dal (yellow split entils), 1-2 green chillies, half an inch ginger, one onion, one tomato, 2-3 tablespoons of grated carrot and beetroot, one-fourth teaspoon turmeric powder, half a teaspoon cumin powder, a pinch of asafoetida (hing), salt, fresh coriander leaves, three cups of water, oil or ghee.

Wash and soak moong dal in a bowl for 3-4 hours. Drain excess water and blend it into a smooth batter. Add little water for consistency.

Add chopped onions, tomato, carrot, beetroot, green chilli, hing, turmeric powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder, salt, and coriander leaves. Stir it well to mix with the batter.

Heat the pan on a medium flame. Lightly grease the pan with cooking oil or ghee for added flavour.

Now add two ladles of batter to the pan and spread it in a thin circle. Cook it well from both sides until crisp and golden brown.

Serve the chilla hot with yoghurt or minty chutney. You can also pair it with a pickle or ketchup on the side.

Janhvi Kapoor shared this recipe in an interview with Curly Tales.
