J.Lo & Ben Affleck: Hollywood's Power Couple Lights Up Red Carpet Once More

Nine months after finalizing their divorce, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck publicly reunited on the red carpet for the New York City premiere of "Kiss of the Spider Woman" on October 6, demonstrating a continued warm friendship. The former couple’s appearance captivated attendees, with photos showing them smiling, embracing, and engaging in close conversation.
Jennifer Lopez, 56, made a striking impression in a unique green, off-the-shoulder floral gown designed by Harris Reed, notable for its dramatic spider-like structure extending from her waist. Ben Affleck, 53, opted for a classic look, sporting a navy suit paired with a tieless white button-down shirt. Their warm interactions included Affleck wrapping his arm around Lopez’s waist while she reciprocated by resting her hand on his back.
Inside the theater, Affleck, who served as an executive producer on the film, was effusive in his praise for Lopez’s performance. “This movie is exquisite,” he declared, adding, “Jennifer, you’re incredible.” Lopez, in turn, acknowledged Affleck's crucial role in the film's realization. Earlier in the day, she had gifted him flowers, stating to Craig Melvin on Today, “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made, and I will always give him that credit.”
Lopez also spoke candidly about the challenging period of filming while navigating her divorce. She shared, “Things happen, you have to keep going,” and highlighted how the project became a source of strength. “It’s funny, the movie is about escapism. It’s about how movies and art save us in the hardest times of our lives,” she explained, underscoring the film’s personal significance during her difficult time.
Affleck elaborated on his motivation for producing "Kiss of the Spider Woman," explaining that through his company with Matt Damon, they aim to finance films and "bet on great artists." He emphasized their commitment to giving talented individuals "the opportunity to show the world how magnificent they are." He further lauded Lopez’s dedication and talent, noting, “She worked enormously hard. You get to see all of her many gifts. She’s somebody that grew up watching classic musicals… and she brought all that energy and talent to this role.” Affleck concluded by expressing immense pride in the film, stating he is “as proud of this movie as any that I’ve ever been involved with. I’m really excited to be here tonight.” He reiterated his ex-wife’s strong work ethic, confirming she gave “her all” to the role.
