ITV Presenter Exodus: Major Shakeup Before New Series

Published 1 week ago4 minute read

London, June 19, 2025 – ITV’s popular word-association game show, *Password*, is set for a important transformation as it gears up for its second season. The network has announced that team captains Alan Carr and Daisy May Cooper will be stepping down, leaving host Stephen Mangan as the sole original member of the panel.

Instead of permanent replacements, *Password* will introduce a revolving door of celebrity captains each week. This change aims to inject fresh energy into the format and keep viewers guessing.

An inside source revealed, “Password was a hit in its first season, so it’s a shame to make changes. But Alan and Daisy are both incredibly busy, and their schedules couldn’t align. Something had to give, and sadly it was their roles as team captains. But there’s an exciting lineup of celebrities ready to participate instead, and everyone’s confident the format works without them.”

The British version of *Password* is based on the long-running US game show of the same name. To date, only seven episodes of the initial season have aired.

The show features teams of celebrities pairing up with members of the public to compete in a word-guessing challenge. Each team attempts to guess a designated “password” using only one-word clues.

In the series finale, contestants Prav and Bethan competed for a £10,000 cash prize.

Production for the upcoming season of *Password*, from the same team behind *Blankety Blank*, *Britain’s Got Talent*, and *QI*, is slated to begin this july, with new episodes expected to air later in 2025.

The insider believes, “If anything, the variety of celebrity players will help keep the show fresh and exciting.”

Did You Know? The original *Password* debuted in the United States in 1961 and has seen numerous revivals over the decades.

This shift follows scheduling adjustments at ITV, including changes to *Lorraine* and *Loose Women*, wich will see reduced air times starting in January 2026 to accommodate an extended *Good morning Britain* broadcast.

Starting January 2026, Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes, running from 6:00 A.M.to 9:30 A.M. *Lorraine* will then air for a condensed 30-minute segment from 9:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M., but only seasonally for 30 weeks of the year.

During weeks when *Lorraine* is not on air, *GMB* will extend its run until 10:00 A.M.Similarly, *Loose Women* will continue to air for one hour from 12:30 P.M., also on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks annually.

Here’s a summary of the changes:

Show New Time Slot (from Jan 2026) Duration Seasonal Airing
Good Morning Britain 6:00 A.M.- 9:30 A.M. (Extended) 3.5 hours Full Year (Extended)
Lorraine 9:30 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. 30 minutes 30 weeks/year
Good Morning Britain 6:00 A.M. – 10:00 A.M. 4 hours During weeks Lorraine is not on air

Word-association games like *Password* have remained popular for decades because they tap into essential cognitive skills. These games challenge players to think creatively, quickly, and strategically, while also providing entertainment for both participants and viewers.

The appeal lies in the simplicity of the premise combined with the complexity of human language. The best one-word clues are both obvious and cleverly misleading, leading to moments of both frustration and triumph.

Pro Tip: When playing word-association games, think about common phrases, synonyms, and related concepts to increase your chances of guessing correctly.
