It's coming! RHD BYD Atto 2 spotted in Thailand, along with surprise Qin L PHEV | WapCar
The latest in BYD’s growing line of electric SUVsa, the Atto 2, has been seen in Thailand. Local outlet Car News Update shared photos of the right-hand drive test unit in an unnamed carpark, cementing the fact that the model is gearing for an ASEAN launch. Next to it is an equally intriguing car, the BYD Qin L PHEV, in left-hand drive configuration.
First unveiled at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show, the BYD Atto 2 goes by different names in different markets. It is known as the Yuan Up in China and the Yuan Pro in Brazil. At 4,310 mm in length, it is slightly shorter than the Atto 3, which measures 4,455 mm.
In China, the Atto 2 is powered by a 177 PS, 290 Nm electric motor, drawing energy from a 45.1 kWh battery that provides an NEDC-rated range of 380 km. However, specifications for other markets, including Thailand, remain unconfirmed.
While the Atto 2 seems to be BYD’s next major launch in the region, pricing will be a key factor in its success. In China, its price range overlaps with both the Dolphin and Atto 3, though the Dolphin is a slightly smaller offering.
Meanwhile, the BYD Qin L is a D-segment plug-in hybrid sedan, sized similarly to the Toyota Camry. It slots between the flagship E-segment BYD Han and the smaller C-segment BYD Qin Plus.
Under the hood, the Qin L pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with a 160 kW (217 PS) electric motor. Power is supplied by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, available in capacities ranging from 10.08 kWh to 15.9 kWh, depending on the variant.
BYD claims that the Qin L will offer between 60 km to 90 km of EV-only driving range, making it an interesting option in the expanding PHEV market.
