Dangote Refinery Reduces Petrol Price

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has further reduced its ex-depot petrol price to N825 per liter, a N10 decrease from the previous N835 per liter. This move underscores the refinery's strategy to maintain a competitive edge over the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

On May 8, both NNPC and the Dangote refinery committed to fostering partnerships that would benefit both entities and encourage healthy competition within the sector. During a meeting, Bayo Ojulari, NNPC’s group chief executive officer (GCEO), and Aliko Dangote, Dangote Group’s president, emphasized their commitment to supporting Nigeria’s energy security and promoting shared prosperity for its citizens.

Dangote clarified that there is no competition between his refinery and NNPC, stating, "NNPC is part and parcel of our business, and we are also part of NNPC. This is an era of co-operation between the two organisations." This statement highlights the collaborative approach both organizations aim to adopt.

Previously, on April 16, the Dangote refinery announced a reduction in the petrol pump price to N890 per liter in Lagos, down from N920 per liter. This adjustment was made possible through collaborations with key partners. Concurrently, NNPC also lowered petrol prices at its filling stations in Lagos and Abuja.
