iPhone SE to be announced this week?

Published 3 months ago2 minute read

If the rumours are true, this week could be the week a brand new iPhone is announced and it’s also the same week that Samsung’s latest S25 devices go on sale – coincidence? I think not.

When it comes to leaks and rumours, there’s a lot of rubbish online of course – but we were confident in the iPhone SE design when we received dummy models just a few weeks ago – but when it comes to the detail, there’s one man who really knows his stuff and that’s Mark Gurman, so when he says this:

Power On: Apple’s new iPhone SE coming this week will kick off one of the most pivotal periods in the iPhone’s nearly two decade history https://t.co/npwXOGgv63

Well, I’m clearing my diary.

I’d suggest an announcement late this week, but not in the form of a glitzy well produced keynote film streamed live as we’ve had the last few years, this will likely be a press release and video announcement.

The big questions though, outside of the look and dimensions are about what’s inside and how much it will cost.

Apple’s last iPhone SE was $719, and was smaller than that which we expect to see this week. So a new iPhone SE will likely be more expensive – but by how much?

And, will Apple announce a product that has Apple Intelligence or not?

Seems incongruous that it would not, given the push on AI right now – but you can buy an iPhone 14 from Apple for $1,049, so for a device the same size but WITH Apple intelligence, wouldn’t it be more expensive?

A $999 phone kinda seems like a waste, though Apple would likely then remove the 14 from the lineup, however an $849 phone with a lesser screen and just a single camera and still not Apple Intelligence might be a stretch.
