On 29 June 2025, severe flooding in Borno State, affected multiple communities within the Damboa local government area (LGA), particularly those in the Gumsuri, Wavi, and Garjan sites. The flood impacted 19,290 individuals, including 3,687 men, 6,464 women, and 9,139 children across various age groups. The rainfall also resulted in 4,667 damaged shelters and two casualties across the three locations. The affected individuals remain in the Damboa LGA, with no observed displacement beyond local government or state boundaries. However, the incident has disrupted daily activities and generated an urgent need for humanitarian assistance. The affected persons are in urgent need of shelter, food, non-food items, health care and pyschosocial support. Following these events, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) field staff conducted rapid assessments to inform the humanitarian community, as well as the government and partners, and to enable a more targeted response.
