is a colourful retro-looking Metroidvania that has character-swapping and RPG elements. It gets tough for sure but everything about it blends so well together that you'll keep persevering through every challenge. 🔨 v1d30chumz 13-61-168-6

Now, where the heck did I store that indie game of the month award?

boasts stylish minimal visuals that represent a massive brutal sci-fi factory and navigating this place will make you sweat as you take advantage of the physics-based gameplay to solve puzzles and forge ahead. There's a ton of variety, too! 👨‍🔬

I'd collect my award but these lasers are keeping me quite busy

Does simultaneously playing as a cat and a buttered piece of toast sound exciting to you? Well, it did for me and despite its silly premise, offers loads of platforming puzzles that will have you scratching your head as you figure out how to proceed. 🧈

Gosh, I hope the toast doesn't end up in that goop...

is another silly game and this one has you blast a firearm to propel yourself around its time trial stages and there's a lot of enjoyable combat, too, where you can throw enemies, deflect projectiles, and blast your way ahead. So much fun! ⚜️

It's all about aiming... and timing!

is one of the best indie adventures we've played this year thanks to its entertaining story and gameplay where you swap between a fellow who's trying to escape and a hacker; sometimes, both at the same time! It's a stand-out experience for sure. 🏃‍♂️

One step at a time there, Trevor...

combines deck-building with creating your own dungeons and Survivors-like combat. But does it succeed? Absolutely! This is one fully-featured formula that'll keep you hooked as you try to advance further and further through its clever campaign. 🏛️

Do you ever get the feeling that you've wandered into the wrong neck of the woods?

is as silly as it is beautiful so if you want to have a laugh and enjoy some truly catchy music, definitely play it. Plus, if you're disabled then you'll relate hard with the protagonist. It was a joy to play something as fresh and representational as this. 🤭

to a T is an educational game, too

is one of the best surprises of the month due to its incredibly thoughtful approach to puzzles that are all based on nature. Whether you're populating a forest or elevating underwater surfaces to create an ideal habitat, it remains mesmerising and truly special. 🌳

is one of my favourite indie kart racing games ever with its tight gameplay and elaborate tracks which are so full of entertaining moments and quirkiness that you and a couchful of chums will have a blast competing against each other. 🏁

Hey, who decided to throw a pool party during our scheduled race?!

As another unconventional game, provides dodge 'em up gameplay that's so flashy and intense that you'll try not to blink as you gather hazardous specks behind you only to devastate them by triggering landmines. Once you get good, you'll reach ridiculous scores! 🔥

Well, enemy forces are certainly swarming me in this wave

is one of the most delightful games that I've played in VR with its cast of curious characters and imaginative premise where you build a whole mining town in the walls of your apartment. There are cute mini-games, too, so there's a lot to love. ⛏️

Wall towns grow up so fast, don't they?

Finally, the very best indie game from May 2025 is ! I was hooked right away with its adorable visuals and challenging gameplay where you tweak solutions so marching critters can gather flowers and avoid danger. It's so cute and there's a whole musical element, too! 💐
