Colourful Indie Games: Part 5 · Be an angel and pet a pup
Platformers come in many varieties but how many have you play as a projectile? Not many so here's the delightful . v1d30chumz 13-61-168-6

Each stage of initially has you play as an angel as you aim and throw your halo. From that point on, you aim and jump as the halo while working through tricky segments that are separated with checkpoints. The gameplay has you jump off the ground then you can jump again while airborne and whenever you're grounded, you can charge-up and sprint ahead at high speed until you smash into a wall or fall off a cliff. It's all very simple but with such intricate stage designs that'll thoroughly test your skills and an overarching goal of speedrunning as you'll want to achieve as many gold times as you can, it all comes together to make for one entertaining and unconventional platformer. Plus, there are tons of hidden goodies to find and secrets to uncover such as mini-games so there's a lot of fun packed in. 😇
I love indie games that present simple concepts and really flesh them out in surprising ways and that's what does.
Aureole - Wings of Hope gameplay video →Ever wanted to create your own dungeons as you play a Survivors-like? I didn't know I wanted to but is great stuff!

Playing takes a bit of learning at the start but once all of its systems sink in, you'll have a great time. For starters, there are 2 phases and in the first, you'll choose rooms via a hand of cards then place them to connect to your current dungeon. Next, you'll explore the dungeon as you automatically attack enemies and level-up which lets you choose more cards. These phases work together impressively well because different rooms will grant you various boosts and strategically placing health and torch healing rooms will be your key to success. Of course, you can't go wrong with powering up your attack power and activating a secondary weapon so there's a lot to consider, especially once you clear all the seals then face the boss. There's so much fun to be had and with accessibility modifiers, anyone can enjoy it. 🏛️
I absolutely loved my time with ' sim and survival mix and would love to see more indies boldly experiment like this.
Into the Restless Ruins gameplay video →Get ready to warp through time and save the world from a nasty plant creature in which is one promising RPG.

is part RPG and part adventure game and it has strong mechanics for each. Maliki's friends enter portal after portal, going backwards and forwards in time as they complete difficult puzzles between fights. Meanwhile, you'll swap between Fénimale, Sand, Fang, and Becky while making use of their unique powers to unblock the path ahead. Becky's giant fork can activate plants that create jumping pads, Sand can move objects along paths in time, Fang can pick up and move key items, and Fénimale's powers unlock pathways. The variety of abilities provides a great mix of challenges when adventuring although I sometimes found the puzzles to be too complex to figure out and there are even technical glitches that made me confused about the rules and I was occasionally unable to even complete certain puzzles.
Anyway, 's turn-based battle system is mostly straightforward but it has a twist in that saving up focus points gives you the option to move a character along the battle's timeline. This can give you an advantage as you can restore HP or line up 2 characters to attack at once but certain positions can also trigger disadvantages so you have to pick just the right moment to use it. Some of the attacks are quite adorable, too, like farmer Becky's ability that has hay bales whip across the screen. I even fought an MRI machine that was transformed into a silly monster at one point! I wish there was better balance, however, as I found myself losing HP at quite a high rate and the amount of healing items is scarce, even after consuming the items that I made from plants grown back at the home base. ⏳
is an imaginative and fun blend of adventure and turn-based RPG gameplay but it can also be super-frustrating.
Maliki: Poison of the Past gameplay video →If you're looking for a fun multiplayer sports game for up to 4 players then can be rather enjoyable so let's head to the court.

is a simple 2-button sports game where one button jumps and the other either throws the ball or stretches your character in the direction that you're aiming in order to defend. The cartoon presentation matches the character physics in that it all feels very rubbery and loose which is good, especially because simply jumping while aiming your hands with the ball in possession is all you need to do in order to score. In fact, doing so is much easier than aiming and throwing the ball. On the downside, the fact that the camera is constantly slowing down and shifting back and forth makes it very disorienting and the stage gimmicks can be a bit much as well because it's a frantic enough game even without doors opening and closing. Overall, it can be fun, especially with 4 players, but it certainly isn't a must-play. 🏀
With a herky-jerky camera and gameplay that doesn't really do anything particularly noteworthy, offers okay indie sports fun.
Dunk Dunk gameplay video →Have you ever been at a party and just wanted to pet a dog? Well, is the kind of game for folks like me and you!

The premise of is very self-explanatory as all you do is wander around a house in first-person while trying to find a puppy. As you aimlessly traverse room after room, you'll occasionally hear an "Arf!" which even displays onscreen when you're close enough and you can use that so you can know the general direction of the dog. The room layout can be confusing, though, so you'll sometimes head in the wrong direction on your way to meet the next pup. Therefore, the challenge is all about navigating as efficiently as possible, especially because a timer is constantly ticking down. As soon as you pet a pup, though, the timer increases then the stage resets and randomises so the goal is to see how many pups you can pet before the time runs out. In the end, it's mindless and repetitive fun that's good for a laugh. 🐕
is a very silly game that put a smile on my face and it's fun to show its goofiness to folks but it's also very short-lived.
